Campbell Johnston Clark held a second Collision Workshop at its London office on 18th September in response to oversubscription to its original event in July. A new audience took part in an interactive session which aims to bring a casualty scenario to life.
CJC Director/Mariner, Andrew Gray and Senior Associate/Master Mariner, Stephen Angove led the new group of insurance claims professionals through an exploration of a claim based on an imagined collision between a container ship and a bulk carrier off Singapore.
Once again, a role-playing scenario saw attendees joining teams to work through the challenges brought by the collision and collaborating to find possible solutions. To spice things up, new information and developments were thrown into the mix to reflect real life experience.
The process created a scenario to establish the roles of different parties, consider liability apportionment under the Colregs and the likely claims arising from the casualty, while discussing the key documentation and evidence required, establishing law and jurisdiction and obtaining security to enable the claims to move forward.
Echoing feedback from the July event, the content, structure and approach attracted praise from a group including younger professionals and seasoned specialists in the field.
