CJC Collision Workshop is a hit

A full house at a Collision Workshop held at CJC’s London headquarters on July 31st drove plans to repeat the event for a new marine insurance audience on September 18th.

CJC Director and Mariner Andrew Gray led 40 insurance professionals through a briefing and role play workshop involving an imagined collision between the ships Man United and Liverpool. With younger professionals and seasoned specialists in attendance, participants acknowledged deep sector knowledge and humour as a winning blend for getting across the claims process while also delivering on the legal aspects of maritime collisions.

Event programme

CJC hosted a panel discussion at its London offices focusing on the IMO's Carbon Intensity Index (CII). Titled 'CII: Why It Matters', the event brought together shipping professionals to discuss the workings, challenges and latest developments of the CII.

Led by Ian Short, Director at CJC, the panel of industry experts outlined the evolution, methodologies, practical considerations, and legal implications of the CII. They also explored potential modifications to the CII. The audience questions and comments that followed highlighted the scale of IMO's task ahead as part of its CII review.

A big shout out and thanks go out to our speakers; Marius Suteu from Lloyd's Register, Francesco Sandrelli from UK Chamber of Shipping, Nimia Willems from LISCR The Liberian Registry, and Edwin Pang of Arcsilea & Royal Institution of Naval Architects International Maritime Organization Committee.

The event provided valuable insights, networking opportunities, and a chance to stay ahead in understanding CII's impact on the maritime industry.

The discussion was followed by a reception, and networking, allowing participants to further engage with industry experts and peers.

Stay tuned for further updates on CII
