Staff at Campbell Johnston Clark took part in 10K charity run ‘Chasing Bunnies’ to support Haven House Children’s Hospice and the seriously ill children in its care.
Chocolate eggs and hot cross buns were well earned at CJC this Easter, with a number of staff members taking part in the ‘Chasing Bunnies’ 10-kilometre charity run on 27 and 28 March. The event aimed to raise funds for Haven House, the hospice providing care and support for children and young people suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Taking on the challenge were London-office directors Maria Borg Barthet, Andrew Gray, Russell Harling, Alistair Johnston, James Mackay and Ian Short; Senior Associate Richard Guy; Associate Angeliki Panera; Trainee Solicitor Cassandra Anum; and Finance Director Steve Brown. These were joined virtually by Angelo Merialdi and Pietro Dagnino of Genoa-based shipping and commercial law firm Siccardi Bregante & C. and Daniel Westerman of London law firm Quadrant Chambers.
Due to social-distancing regulations, the ‘Bunny Chasers’ were unable to race in groups – but that did nothing to deter them: donning their rabbit ears and jogging gear, they ran their 10Ks individually, sharing their results with Haven House and helping to raise a combined £2,700 by 29 March.
“These are uncertain times for everyone, with the Coronavirus situation changing so rapidly,” said Sophie Bragg of Haven House. “For families of extremely vulnerable children, like those supported by Haven House, this uncertainty and anxiety is even more acute. To know that they are being thought of means so much to them and without this type of continued support, we could not provide this lifeline of care.”
While all the participants completed their runs, some were decidedly quicker than others. Among the fleetest of foot was Ian Short, who posted a time of 44:53. However, Ian was no match for Richard Guy, who hared across the finishing line in 41 minutes and 40 seconds.
CJC congratulates the 13 runners and thanks everyone who contributed to this incredibly important cause.
