Later in 2021, the latest UNCTAD Report will include new and substantial contributions on CIF and FOB contracts from CJC Consultant Filippo Lorenzon. Filippo specialises in the law of charterparties, bills of lading, commodity sales on CIF and FOB terms, Incoterms and letters of credit. He has also worked on several projects for the European Commission on maritime law reform.
Filippo’s contribution to UNCTAD is ongoing and, in March, two new briefings are worthy of note for their timeliness. The first, COVID-19 implications for commercial contracts: International sale of goods on CIF and FOB terms, offers guidance on the way in which the mechanics of international trade may be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and identify a number of common legal and commercial issues arising from it. Some possible approaches are also be suggested to encourage discussion between the affected parties and stimulate preventive measures for future agreements and their performance.
The second briefing, COVID-19 implications for commercial contracts: Carriage of goods by sea and related cargo claims, covers some of the implications of the pandemic for commercial contracts on carriage of goods by sea and related cargo claims to identify common legal and commercial issues arising.
