Early July saw CJC’s Richard Hickey taking on the 24 Peaks Challenge as part of a team of hikers led by CJC’s client Carisbrooke raising money for The Seafarers’ Charity. The challenging event has been running for over 15 years but was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19. Having completed the two-day trek, Richard enjoyed what also proved to be a bonding experience for industry peers, although he echoed the advice event organisers give to potential participants – do not underestimate “the Ultimate Lake District Challenge”.
“It was much tougher than I expected, to be honest,” he said. “On the first day we covered 20 miles and climbed 2,500 metres, while there were 13 summits to reach on the second day. Conditions were also fairly normal for July in the Lake District (that is to say, atrocious!).”
